Snowballs vs. Sleds

In the United States, we're seeing the reverse side of a trend of outsourcing that started ~10 years ago. Companies are choosing to spend their money in the United States instead of trying to outsource it to companies in poorer markets. In the field of web development, I'm seeing case after case where businesses have grown tired of being burned trying to utilize cheap overseas workers. Unfortunately, these businesses often have to pay an upfront premium to return this work. This is because in trying to save money, these companies have paid developers to build snowballs instead of sleds.

Why Joomla is Technically Superior

Joomla is a wonderful application with many different groups of people using it for many different reasons.  I've been working with it for over five years, however in that time I've also worked with several other popular solutions.  I've chosen it as my business focus and my primary development platform because I believe it's technical advantages are superior for most development scenarios.  If I were to sit down with an organization choosing a web platform, here is the technical case I would make for it.

Total Cost Of Ownership

Wikipedia says that total cost of ownership is: "a financial estimate whose purpose is to help consumers and enterprise managers determine direct and indirect costs of a product or system." The key point of this definition is "indirect costs;" it's the whole reason that this definition exists. To illustrate, imagine that you're sitting on your couch eating cheesy puffs and a commercial comes on for a slick looking sedan.
